Lakes Loop (West of Edmonton)

Route Details: 4 beautiful lakes on a loop that follows mostly two-lane backroads just over 200km travelling through a boatload of great small towns and is all just minutes outside of Edmonton. What more could you ask for in a perfect afternoon motorcycle outing?

Spruce Grove is the start and the end of this loop and has a couple great small town businesses to act as a meet up or for a meal after the ride. From Spruce Grove head west on mostly secondary highways until you arrive at the East end of Wabamun Lake where you will follow the south shoreline for the 20km length of the lake to reach Seba Beach, which might be a perfect first stop. Wabamun Lake, like almost all the lakes in this area of Alberta, is a popular destination for boating, fishing, paddle sports and swimming. After leaving Seba Beach it is a qucik ride down Highway 16 to catch Hwy 757 and then turn NE on 633 which follows the north shore of Isle Lake and cuts south of Lac Ste. Anne eventually taking you to Alberta Beach. Alberta Beach is another very popular place for riders and the weekender/cottage crowd but it is well worth the stop at Jungles or Mama’s in the Kitchen for a bite to eat and some cold drinks. Mama’s homemade pie and ice cream are a perfect late afternoon snack if you aren’t stopping for a full lunch. Just be warned once you visit Alberta Beach I promise you will want (need) to go back. After that you will ride across Hwy 43 onto Hwy 37 and then onto some more backroads up to Sandy Lake which is the last lake of the day. From here you can return to Spruce Grove via Hwy 44 or choose your own route back towards Edmonton. On a sunny day this route is an awesome way to spend a coupe hours on your bike or the entire day taking advantage of all the grogeous places to see and stop at along the way.
